Based in London and Sydney BECKER INTERNATIONAL is an award winning international distribution, marketing and financing company. The company is supportive of director-driven feature films aimed at the international market.
Becker International's current slate offers a diverse mixture of US independent, Australian, as well as UK-backed features alongside foreign language selections. Becker International's product mix is closely aligned with sister company Dendy Films, with Dendy Films releasing the majority of Becker International's titles domestically in Australia and New Zealand.
Current titles on Becker International's slate includes CONTROL, a feature about the late Ian Curtis, the enigmatic lead singer of legendary English post-punk band Joy Division. The film is the first feature from internationally acclaimed music video director and photographer, Anton Corbijn.
Another music film, the documentary KURT COBAIN: ABOUT A SON, is a uniquely intimate portrait of the late rock star told in his own words, taken from never before heard conversations with Cobain by rock journalist Michael Azerrad.
Other documentaries include NIGHT, a stunning and cinematic big screen event exploring the universal nature of night and FORBIDDEN LIE$ which examines the truth behind Norma Khouri and her international bestseller 'Forbidden Love.'
Rounding off a strong year for documentary production, Becker International boarded director Gillian Armstrong's Sundance hit UNFOLDING FLORENCE, an original look at the remarkable social chameleon Florence Broadhurst, almost 30 years after her unsolved murder.
Another documentary just acquired is NEW DUTCH MASTER which charts the success of renowned Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn and follows his progress as he directs his first feature film, CONTROL.
Becker International also represents worldwide rights to foreign language film BIRDS OF HEAVEN (Les Oiseaux du Ciel) which premiered at the 2006 Berlin Film Festival, OPAL DREAM, the newest feature from director Peter Cattaneo and THE NIGHT OF THE WHITE PANTS a US comedy starring Tom Wilkinson.
Up and coming films from Becker International include TOMO, a disturbing yet poignant look at a friendship between a man and his emergency survival robot when they crash land in the near-future on a barren ice-planet. Tomo is adapted from the award winning short by Paul Catling which won the short film award at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival.
Another exciting new project is Adam Elliot's MARY AND MAX, an animated feature from the creators of the Academy Award winning animated short, HARVIE KRUMPET, LIVING & BREATHING, the new film from director Alan Rudolph and Australian dramas NEWCASTLE and PRIME MOVER.
